Worthless Traffic

Have you seen them? Sites that promise free traffic to your website? The same sites also promise that if you pay for a membership, you will double, or even triple your traffic. I was gullable enough a while back to sign up for some of this crap. You complete some offers, giving out your email, and some of your precious personal information, and you then qualify for 50 visitors. These visitors are redirected, just like you are, to the site of some other unsuspecting site owner. The sites I was redirected to after completing the offers were sites that I wasn't remotely interested in reading. I left immediately. My visit counted as one of the 50 promised visitors, but it meant nothing.

If people come to my site, I want them to be people who are interested in what I have to say. Likewise, if I visit someone's site or blog, I want to be interested in what they have to say. Otherwise, I am just wasting my time.

Don't fall for that trap. It might sound like the answer to your traffic woes, but it is a load of garbage. The only way to improve your traffic is to:

1. Write good content.
2. Update your content regularly. People who like your work will come back for more.
3. Use good keywords and labels to get you noticed on the search engines.
4. Build a following. Comment on related blogs and websites, not just as a way to leave a link for
people to follow back to your site, but to become known for your thoughts and opinions.

This can't be done overnight. You can't just start a blog one day, and expect to have hundreds of visitors overnight. It takes hard work, a lot of thought and dedication, and the willingness to learn A LOT about your subject matter.

I am learning a lot myself on my road to become THE QUEEN OF BLOGGING INCOME.

Blogsvertise

I signed up yesterday for Blogsvertise. I was accepted, and in my acceptance email, I was told that I should be receiving an offer soon.

The offer is to evaluate a product or website, and write a review on my blog about this product or website. I have done some research, and in reviewing other people's blogs, I have come across people who are making a lot of money providing such a service. Some bloggers have suggested a site called PayPerPost. I have signed up for that service as well, but I don't qualify just yet becuase my blog needs to be at least 30 days old in order to qualify.

One blog I came across showed a list of all the author's revenue for a month from 2 blogs. He made about $300/month on Blogsvertise and $500/month on PayPerPost. Along with his income from AdSense, Chitika, and numerous other programs, he was making over $1100 a month. Thats some serious money coming in from just 2 blogs, and what he described as very little effort.

I am still sticking with my plan, and once a week, I will itemize my revenue for the week. I don't expect it to be a lot, because I just started, but I will update on what I find is working for me, and what is not. I am determined to become THE QUEEN OF BLOGGING INCOME, and start living the life I was destined to live.

Peace out
Lori MacDonald!

Two years trying to make money, I have made $3.94

I am a smart girl. I have read all of the post out there about making money blogging. I have set up blogs, put up a couple of posts, added the adsense feature and sat back and waited for my ship to come in. After 2 years, I have made $3.94.

I have read about bloggers making 6 figure incomes, just writing about their interests. I want to do that too. I have a lot of interests. I knit, I garden, I cook, I raise 2 teenage children, and a whole whack of other things besides. I want to cash in on this internet-extravaganza that a lot of other people are doing and making big bucks doing it.

I have realized that it is not enough to just write a couple of posts and sit back and wait. In order to make this endeavor a success, I have to blog, blog, blog. I have to add the appropriate content to make people come back for more, and most importantly, never give up, even if a month goes by and I don't get anywhere.

There are a lot of things I can do to make this a success. I have already signed up for Chitika. Lets say your blog is about, I don't know, widgets. If your reader finds your blog through google by typing in widgets, the Chitika displays ads targeted around widgets. I am adding this code to all my blogs, and see how it does.

Of course I have adsense enabled on all my blogs. I don't get much out of this...yet. I am assuming the reason for this is that I have not taken the steps necessary to get the traffic flowing through my content.

Over the next week or so, I will be continuously updating my blogs and trying to find new and interesting ways to promote them so I can get some traffic, and see if that makes a diffence. I was told that one way to get people to go to your blog is to comment actively on other peoples blogs. I will be trying this. Also, I will be seeking out forums on the topics I have my blogs based upon, and see how this goes.

Till next time,
